Q:
Is
any special safety equipment required?
A: You are responsible for
long pants and approved work boots. For a one-time refundable deposit of $10.00,
Meisner provides you with t-shirts, an approved hard hat, safety glasses, and
gloves. Most other safety equipment is provided by the company, including safety
harnesses, ear plugs, first aid kit, etc.
Q:
Electricity
is dangerous and deadly. Do I have to work on live circuits?
A:
It
is forbidden to work on live circuits at Meisner Electric. The Employee Tool
List requires even an entry level employee to have a voltage sensor to prevent
this kind of injury. You will never be asked to perform this task.
If
you are, company policy states you have the right to refuse this task and report
it to the Safety Department, without
fear of retribution of your job or future promotion.
Meisner
maintains a heavily enforced Lockout / Tag out program. Even common
neutrals are addressed in our Weekly Safety Training Program. So if you elect
to work a circuit hot, you will be in direct violation
of company policy.
Q:
Do
I have to wear a hard hat at work?
A:
In most cases, yes. OSHA states head protection must be used when circumstances
require one. Many General Contractors are beginning to require 100% compliance.
Also, Meisner requires that you wear your safety glasses any time you are
drilling, chipping, cutting concrete, or using compressed air. Gloves must be
worn whenever you are working in metal studs, installing light fixtures, panel
cans, or pulling wire.

So
be safe, stick around, and lets grow better together! |
