Meisner Electric is a full-service commercial electrical contractor serving Florida with offices in the South Florida (West Palm Beach/Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) and Tampa Bay/Sarasota areas. Our history of success spans almost 7 decades with over $1 billion in completed electrical projects!

Our History

1953

Larry Meisner starts Meisner Electric in Newton, Iowa.

1954

Meisner Electric completes its first commercial project, The Elk’s Lodge, in Newton, Iowa.

1965 - 1975

Meisner diversifies and expands to other states completing projects throughout the Midwest.

1978

Meisner opens its regional office in Delray Beach, Florida.

1983

Meisner’s 2nd generation, Tim and Janet (Meisner) Onnen, acquire ownership of all Florida Regional Operations from Larry Meisner. 

1989

Meisner completes the Sawgrass Mills Shopping Mall in Sunrise, Florida.

1992

Meisner builds the worlds’ largest clean room for NASA’s Space Station Processing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

2001

Meisner builds a 672,000 SF state-of-the-art logistics and distribution facility for Walgreens in Jupiter, Florida.

2005 - 2008

Meisner completes over 1.5 million square feet of beachfront projects in Fort Lauderdale to include the “W” Hotel & Residences, a 520 room, 23-story twin tower hotel and residential development, the Trump Hotel, a 25-story 495,000 sq. ft. mixed use building with hotel rooms, ballrooms, restaurants, seasonal residences, and retail spaces, and the Q Club Resort and Residences, a 25-story 340 room resort and condominium project.

2010

Meisner completes the 47-story MET 2 Office Building and Hotel (J.W. Marriot Marquis) in downtown Miami.

2011

Meisner completes 1.3 million square foot expansion of the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Coconut Creek Casino in less than nine months, which includes a 7-story parking garage earning a LEED® Silver Certification

2012

Meisner completes the new Miami Marlins Ballpark in Miami, Florida.

2013

Meisner completes Bethesda West Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida and begins to focus its expansion into Specialty and Healthcare Projects.

2017

Meisner’s 3rd generation of leadership emerges after Senior Executives acquire ownership of the Company.

2018

Meisner opens its West Coast Regional office in Sarasota, Florida.

2020

In just under two weeks, Meisner completes the electrical installation of a 450-bed Temporary COVID-19 Treatment Facility inside the Miami Beach Convention Center.

2021

Meisner relocates its Corporate HQ from Delray Beach to Boca Raton.

2021

Meisner’s Tampa Bay/Sarasota Area Office relocates from Sarasota to Ellenton.
