Meisner Electric is a full-service commercial electrical contractor. Founded in 1953 by Larry Meisner, our history of success spans over 65 years!

Our History

1953

Larry Meisner founds Meisner Electric in Newton, Iowa.

1954

Meisner completes its first commercial project, The Elk’s Lodge, in Newton, Iowa.

1965- 1975

Meisner diversifies and expands to other states completing projects throughout the Midwest in South Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, and Ohio.

1977

Meisner opens its regional office in Columbus, Ohio.

1978

Meisner opens a regional office in Delray Beach, Florida.

1979

Meisner completes its first commercial project, Abbey Delray, in Florida.

1983

Meisner's 2nd generation, Tim and Janet (Meisner) Onnen, acquires 100% ownership of all Florida Regional Operations from Larry Meisner. Meisner Electric of Florida's first year revenue hits $1.3 million.

1987

Meisner Electric moves into its new office in downtown Delray Beach.

1989

Meisner completes the Sawgrass Mills Shopping Mall in Sunrise, Florida.

1992

Meisner builds the worlds’ largest clean room for NASA’s Space Station Processing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

1997

Meisner complete renovations and expands its offices in Delray Beach to accommodate its growth.

2001

Meisner builds a 672,000 SF state-of-the-art logistics and distribution facility for Walgreens in Jupiter, Florida.

2005-2008

Meisner completes over 1.5 million square feet of beachfront projects in Fort Lauderdale to include the "W" Hotel & Residences, a 520 room, 23-story twin tower hotel and residential development, the Trump Hotel, a 25-story 495,000 sq. ft. mixed use building with hotel rooms, ballrooms, restaurants, seasonal residences, and retail spaces, and the Q Club Resort and Residences, a 25-story 340 room resort and condominium project.

2010

Meisner completes the 47-story MET 2 Office Building and Hotel (J.W. Marriot Marquis) in downtown Miami.

2011

Meisner expands its Service Department adding trained technicians, state-of-the-art power analyzers, and infrared detection equipment.

2011

Meisner completes 1.3 million square foot expansion of the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Coconut Creek Casino, which includes a 7-story parking garage earning a LEED® Silver Certification in just under nine months.

2012

Meisner completes the new Miami Marlins Ballpark in Miami, Florida.

2013

Meisner completes Bethesda West Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida and begins to focus its expansion into Specialty and Healthcare Projects.

2016

Meisner opens its Miami office to support its growth and expansion.

2017

Meisner's 3rd generation of leadership, Senior Executives (L-R) Bill Dalessandro (Executive Vice President & CFO), Todd Gurne (President & COO), and Doug Hutchison (Chairman & CEO), acquire ownership from Tim and Janet Onnen.

2018

Meisner opens its West Coast Regional office in Sarasota, Florida.
